Your Look
“If there is no woman, there is no dress”- Coco Chanel
The childhood fantasy of that incredible gown is now a reality. It is time to choose the most important dress you will ever wear, and it is your look that will set the tone for your wedding: elegantly formal, culturally traditional, or alluringly whimsical. Bridal salons offer an array of colours and styles and will do alterations for that perfect dress with the not-so-perfect waistline.
The search should begin immediately for while the choices may seem endless, time is not.
And, if it seems that the elusive dress of your dreams is but a figment of your imagination, then bring it to life. Do not hesitate to look into custom gown designs, after all, it is your day and you should feel perfect in what you are wearing.

The wedding gown tells something about the bride’s beliefs and feelings, her personality, and her general appearance.
Some brides are likely to try new styles. Others may be unconcerned about their gown. Some brides wear simple gowns becaue of their strong customs and beliefs.
Through the years, the wedding gown has been one of the most important parts of the wedding, associated with the hope and the celebration of love. Your gown is going to be the focal point of the ceremony, and you will remember it for the rest of your life.
Consider comfort and that all eyes will be on you. This may not be the best occasion to wear a gown in which you do not feel comfortable. Selecting a wedding gown is one of life’s precious moments. To get the right gown, however, takes some thinking. Your wedding gown gives you a chance to dress completely different from the way you do everyday; so feel free to select something unique. Experiment with many styles to see what suits you silhouette best.
If your wedding is a destination- there are now many short styles available for you to choose from. The rise of destination weddings has set the tone for a new look for a very treasured day. And, you’ll find gowns of all colours and styles with gorgeous detail- just for you!
The months leading up to your wedding can be a time of stress as well as happiness; there’s so much to think about and do! You can keep stress under control by allowing plenty of time to plan your wedding and by taking good care of yourself along the way.
Beginning a good health and beauty regime at the beginning of your wedding planning will give you the all over healthy feeling and glow you want to achieve for your wedding day. Regular exercise and good eating habits are two keys to both physical and emotional well being. You may want to join a health and fitness club to keep you motivated to stay in shape. Often a health club will offer individualized diet or nutritional counseling as well.
You may also enjoy treating yourself to a mini-retreat by spending time at a luxurious day spa. A day spa provides caring and private environment where you can surrender your stresses and make your whole body look and feel great.
 Spa-tacular: Looking and Feeling Good
Treat yourself to a relaxing massage after a busy, tension-filled week. You will come away feeling refreshed both physically and mentally. At a spa, professionals will work on a program for the whole person. Many special services are available like body massage, facials hydrotherapy, herbal body treatments, manicures, pedicures, lash tinting, waxing, scalp and back treatments. Hair and make-up services are available too! Many spas can design special packages for you so you can spend a relaxing, stress-free hour or day and leave feeling beautiful, invigorated and recharged.
Today’s spas offer fillers, botox and non-invasive facial tightening.
Spas visits are a wonderful way to gift your bridesmaids and maid of honour. Plan to spend a leisurely afternoon with everyone, while erasing stress and spending time together.
As you incorporate a personal health and beauty regime in your life, include your mother or bridesmaids, and even your fiancé. It is always more fun to exercise, diet, or visit a spa with a friend. Treat yourself well and you will look and feel your best on your wedding day.

It wasn’t such a long time ago that I said, I will, and started the exciting process of planning my wedding. I bought magazines, breezed through bridal shows and debated over roses vs. freesia. The freesia won out because of its heady fragrance, that will drift through the entire wedding day.
We are going to take the aisle flowers from the church to the reception, and with a simple addition of a hanger, they are going to decorate the front of the head table and augment the centre pieces. Brilliant thinking. I was bedazzled at I & F, (flowers), where I had the coolest service and walked away filled with great ideas and one more thing ticked off my giant to-do list!
I’m still not certain about the menu for the wedding. My fiancé Jeff and I are still debating roast prime or a medley of chicken, garnished in a Mediterranean- style sauce. That decision is still up for grabs!
My brides maids love me because I decided on a turquoise colour theme, and, now they can choose their own style dress. That way, they will still be able to wear the dress to other celebrations and not curse me when they look inside their closets. LOL
I’ve hired the photographer we were so impressed with; a little photo-journal style and a little traditional. We wanted to share as many family shots as humanly possible, but still have the balance of cool shots that we can look at years from now. Candids are fun too!
I am contemplating a reality-type video, but want to really think about it longer, and the cruise to the Caribbean is locked and loaded. Ah, Jeff, you did it well!
I have a little time now to check out invitations and I hear that trendy vintage is the newest rage in wedding stationery. With our glam- type theme, ( thanks to the Wedding Guide- I saw this when I picked up my guide!)
I’m thinking of another spa appointment soon. I am so pampered and feel so much lighter when I spend an afternoon at estetica Day Spa in Lakeshore. I started going on a regular basis about six months, as the reality of the wedding started to hit me. I am going there because I wanted a radiant complexion on my wedding day. It’s definitely brighter with the treatments happening and I am loving the new me. The spa is relaxing and I found the occasional massage has certainly soothed out any stresses that I feel coming on. The place is an oasis and I love the atmosphere- so soothing.
Well, I’ve been rambling, but I wanted to start this blogging. The wedding is in October , so there wil be lots more to come as the months get closer.
Signing off!
Wait, take a look at the WGBN new “Pop out Player“:)

Top it off with personality
The trend is to personalize just about anything having to do with your wedding. Why not your cake as well? Creative displays of monograms and the names of the bride and groom are topping layers of wedding cakes. From silver initials studded with crystals to subtle monograms in the frosting décor of the cake layers, it’s just another way to add a symbol of your new bond to the elements of your wedding day celebration. A cake topper with your initials joined together in or by a heart is a contemporary way to adorn your wedding cake with something much more personal than a stature of a bride and groom or a spray of flowers. You can even include flowers along with this signature design element. Another unique idea in toppers include one-of-a-kind glass hand-blown artworks.
Layers of fun
Today’s wedding cake bakers are creatively stretching the idea of what the traditional wedding cake can become. It used to be that choosing different flavours for each layer was somewhat cutting-edge, though it’s probably become more the norm when it comes to having a unique cake. In fact, some cakes might not be layered at all- there may be an assortment of four to five cakes, all varying in size, colour, and flavour, that are combined to make a wedding cake display. One of the hottest wedding cake designs today is that of layers of ornately decorated pillows (imagine the finest available to carry your ring down the aisle) stacked one on top of another. Today’s cakes incorporate all types of colour as well, and cake designers are not limited to the whites and creams of yesteryear. We are also seeing cupcakes remain as a cute trend as well as the emerging trends of macarons, a pastry with a colourful topping that can be hollowed and filled with gelato, cream or sorbet. While reading through a backlog of wedding web posts from around the world, I happened on one trend that is emerging that is as different yet as traditional as the bride and groom cake-top below. Celebrity brides are adorning themselves with temporary tatooes, much like the ones that Indian brides have used for centuries in their traditional ceremonies.
Hollywood brides are taking this old art form to their weddings, as another signature statement to personalize who they are, and what they believe in. Being temporary adornments, these are individual, unique and fun.
What could be more fun than personalized artwork for a wedding? Some food for thought as the future is yet to be determined on this one!
Until later,

I’ve been reading about 2010 Wedding trends. It is pointing to a more unique, signature-style wedding . With the influence of year’s gone by, the style is moving toward home weddings, which aren’t necessarily less expensive, but certainly are more intimate and personal. A back yard is more easy-going for everyone. Your guests are more relaxed and it can be a great and moderately priced entertaining choice, or you can go all-out.

Perhaps decorating is the bride’s hot button and she goes all out to create their own space, unique to both her and her fiancé. She may then decide to cut back on favours completely. Everyone has their own style. We previewed covers for our current Wedding Guide over 6 months ago and go and agreed unanimously that the Hollywood look was going to continue to emerge as a strong trend.
The consensus was a very glam, opulent and vintage cover. We have since learned that our cover girl, Brooke Boyle is vying for The Miss Universe Canada Contest in Toronto this week. And, the best of the best is that she is also a local Windsor/Essex native and she is engaged! All the best tomorrow, Brooke. 2
Veils with a feather or a jewel-clip and netting is the favourite choice for brides and they cover only the face. This is going to continue to be the head-piece rage well into 2010. It makes a statement and is more fun to wear and look at than the long trains of your mother’s day.
Looking ahead to bridesmaids dresses, and we’ve all been there; there’s more freedom to having the bride pick her colour and letting the gals buy their own styles, and meld the look together as one. The only key is too make certain that the styles are all either formal or informal. The two looks together won’t do it!
There are more emerging trends that deserve to be watched. Wedding pies, for- rent commercial aircrafts for ceremonys, ball gowns that flow like Scarlet’s wardrobe in Gone With the Wind, and outdoor weddings on farms, vineyards, zoos, old train stations and local, white sandy beaches.
Special decorating touches like your mother’s roses in antique vases will grace the guests’ tables.
Bright colours are in – rich hues in gem colours such as amber, plum and navy are coming into vogue. Copper, buttercream and black are also on the horizon.
To everyone planning a wedding; there has been no time as exciting as right now for your wedding day. The sky’s the limit, the mood is fun and friendly, and you have every option in the world to say ” I do” your way.
Until later,
