One of the most important ingredients for a great wedding reception is the music. Many brides choose to have live entertainment. This provides the ambiance for the pre-dinner and dinner hour with softer music. Once the evening starts to heat up and the tables have been cleared for dessert- everyone can get up and dance the night away.
The performance of a live band has a warmth and individuality that just can’t be copied by playing recorded music. It’s best to hire a band that typically plays weddings, since they also have the repertoire of traditional dance tunes, big hits and songs geared toward getting the crowd in a dancing mode. A good wedding band is versatile, and can handle your requests, as well as playing beautiful ballads that are perfectly romantic songs for both you and your guests.
The option for a DJ is also a popular choice. Music sets the tone for your party and creates a party atmosphere that can either make or break the evening. It is important to spend some time seriously discussing how you want to see the evening evolve; what kind of music you want offered and whether you are adding any songs that are of great importance to you as a couple. You may also want to inject a bit of your ethnic background into the reception with music that has a tradition with either of your families.
Your first dance together is still one tried and true tradition that has staying power. It’s your official introduction as a married couple, with the two of you in the spotlight or that one very special moment. You will want to have a dance with your father as your groom dances with your mother. The wedding party then joins in and eventually all your guests will get on the floor with you.
Remember to ask your photographer to get any pictures that you may want of your friends and family having a great time! These are the memory-making moments that you can look back on years from now with fondness.
Music is the most universal experience of joy. It is an important part of any wedding reception – at the ceremony, the reception and the dance. Greeting your guests with music will immediately make them feel comfortable and welcome.
Music changes a nice wedding into a lovely ceremony and beautiful reception. It makes the time go quickly and fills the silence between conversation and dinner courses like nothing else. Music forms a common bond between strangers and encourages them to communicate with each other.
Your music will set your mood, creating intimacy and elegance throughout the course of your wedding day from the ceremony to a lively atmosphere at your reception.

| In ancient days, after the wedding festivities, the groom kept his bride in hiding to prevent their relatives from recapturing her; they stayed secluded for one month, the cycle of the moon, and drank mead, a honey wine, hence the term honeymoon.
Your honeymoon is a time to relax together, and it serves as a bridge for the change in your relationship. It is your private celebration, unlike the public declaration of your wedding ceremony and reception. It is a time for the two of you!
Personal preferences determine how long, and how much you wish to spend on the honeymoon. Many couples take a romantic, fabulous trip and, a faraway place makes perfect sense. If you have the funds and the time,it is worth making that trip of a lifetime.
Some couples do chose to have their honeymoon close to home because it is simply easier to prepare for and travel to. Your honeymoon is a time to simply be together without any distractions.
Your travel specialist will work with you to ensure that you and your spouse receive good advice and enjoy a luxurious honeymoon, whether it be a grand excursion, cruise, country inn or bed and breakfast stay.

“The earth laughs in flowers.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Flowers are on of the greatest accessories to every detail of your wedding and have always been a favoured expression of friendship and love. Prior to bridal bouquets, brides carried bunches of garlic herbs and grains to drive evil spirits away, as they walked down the aisle. This practice, thankfully evolved and was replaced with flowers, symbolizing fertility and love.
Whether the colours are vibrant or naturally subtle, flowers enhance the beauty of their surroundings, and the happiness of such a joyous and momentous occasion. Your flowers will bring texture and colour to the altar at your ceremony, the tables at the reception, and in your own bouquet accentuating you and your wedding gown.
Today, floral choices are endless. Choose a wedding specialist to assist you review some of their previous work, before you hire them.Which colour, which variety, which type will all be defined by the theme you chose for your wedding day, the cost and the season of the year. You will want to use your flowers to tie everything together, including your bridal gown.
An experienced florist will discuss the style and look you wish to achieve. You may want to bring in some examples of ideas that have caught your eye from wedding magazines, as well as sample swatches of your gown, your bridesmaidsïdes attire, the setting of the wedding and your table linens, to understand what you are hoping to achieve.
The Language of Flowers:
Give red and white roses to your fiancé on your wedding eve (happy love and unity)
Meet your future inlaws for the first time with heather, (admiration) daffodils, (regard, not love) or bouquets of morning glories. (affection)
For your bridal shower, choose centrepieces of acacia (friendship) and yellow lily (gaiety)
For the groom at the wedding, have his friends give him a sprig of ivy (fidelity)
Decorate the church, chapel, or garden with lilies (purity of heart), ivy (fidelity).
Your bouquet will express unspoken emotions when you include: blue violet (faithfulness), orchids (beauty and love), myrtle(joy) or iris (promise in love).
THE BEAUTY OF FALL IS IN THE AIR

The air is heavy and hot right now but soon on, the sultry breezes of summer will be making way for beautiful Autumn!
If you have chosen to be a fall bride, you will have the best of the wedding seasons, where comfort is served up with cooler temperatures, and the bride and groom can breath a sigh of relief as they welcome the fresh and crisp days.
The palette of Fall is vibrant with the rich hues of paint-splashed colour and that makes for a gorgeous theme for your wedding colours.
Nothing sets these shades of beauty off as well as the vibrancy of fall, as it unleashes hues of richness from September to October. Consider this cooler season for the beauty of Mother Nature and her comfort.
Your photographs certainly will be one-of-a- kind with nature’s beautiful backdrop. Consider the possibility and versatility of picture-taking against this canvas of splendour.
If you are marrying this fall, we would love for you to share your wedding ideas with other brides who may just have become engaged and are considering Fall 2011 for their special day.

“I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be working with such a talented group of people at WISN. For 19 years, I have been a go-alone bridal business in Canada and I am ecstatic that I can now collaborate with other wedding experts to bring even more information to our local marketplace. Having a leader in the industry such as WISN to watchdog this changing industry is exciting and a necessity. To date, there has not been much information available that vendors could really trust.
With the change in society; weddings are evolving and we all need to keep our eyes on the ball. The future looks exciting and I still have many ideas up my sleeve to better this business. I look forward to sharing my knowledge to better the message to vendors and brides,” says Davies.
“We’re looking to expand our brand globally and our friends to the north are the first natural move beyond our own boarders. But, like everything we do, we must find the right person to fill the role and qualification standards we expect. In Sheryl, we’ve been very fortunate to have filled that role in Canada. She is a true leader in her market and we look forward to her insightful guidance,” said Shane McMurray, creator and head of the Wedding Industry Survey Network.
