Planning Details to Think About!

I recently met a bride who shared a story with me about her wedding day, that made my hair curl. She thought she had taken care of every little detail, however there are still things that one cannot begin to predict that may be challenging at the ninth hour.

What she forgot to factor into her planning was that her Maid of Honour was coming from the United States. When she and her boyfriend got to the border that day, for whatever reason, they were denied entry into Canada.

With less than 24 hours to the wedding, the bride had another friend stand in for her as her MOH.  They found a dressmaker, who performed a major miracle by altering a new dress overnight.

Luckily, with some quick thinking, what might have been a major hurdle turned into, but a hiccup.

If any of your attendants are not Canadian citizens, make sure they can get into the country, well before the wedding day. Imagine the stress and heartache for that bride,  finding out the hard by  just 24 hours prior to her wedding date.

The devil is in the details, and Canadian Customs was not on this bride’s radar screen. When planning your wedding, thinking about the unthinkable, early in your planning stages to ensure that no major  problems  will surface just prior to your scheduled wedding date.

Two things to remember if anyone in your wedding party are not Canadian citizens-  they will require a passport to enter Canada. If anyone in your wedding party has a criminal record, they won’t be able to cross into the country.  There are many reasons to be denied access.
