Wedding Planning- Sweet Guest Mementos

Presenting a wedding day token is an adaptation of a 16th century French custom that was generally reserved for royalty. The objects given to guests at a royal wedding were originally of great value;  gold, precious stones, mother-of-pearl, or porcelain. As the tradition was introduced into society, gifts of lace, glass or confections  were substituted.

Today’s wedding guests often receive mementos that can be enjoyed at home as a remembrance of the wedding day. Sweets, such as chocolate are often given in monogrammed boxes or decorative wrappers. Floral mementos like fresh roses, satin roses filled with potpourri, or packets of flower seeds are also popular. Bridesmaids may give mementos from ribboned baskets as the guests leave the ceremony or reception, or they may simply be put at each place setting.

Making your wedding more memorable for your honoured guests and leaving them with a sweet memory of your wedding day is a great way to say “thank you!”
