Walking the Aisle, A 2019 Wedding Preview

This upcoming season brides will continue to be as creative as ever, adding personal touches to the biggest and priciest party that they will ever throw. They’re saying “I do” with romantic imagination, complete with all things simply glamorous and elegant. The planning will be a true labour of love that will come to fruition on their special day.

A wedding is a magical occasion and what sets it apart from any other special event is the ceremony. No two weddings are ever identical and they are as unique as the couple hosting them.

Couples  will splurge on the details of the day with options that are overwhelming. The range of venues throughout Windsor|Essex County is spectacular for all tastes and budgets;  with hotel ballrooms, galleries, breweries, restaurants, ethnic clubs, wineries, tents, barns and old historic mansions, More couples continue to take their wedding ceremonies and receptions outdoors, for both sophisticated and unique settings, that are reflective of their personality as a couple.

Today’s bride is no different from her predecessors and this area is brimming with superb wedding professionals, from bridal planners to photographers, makeup artists, stationers  and DJ services. It will be a unique year filled with beautiful ideas, bright colours and heartfelt celebrations.

From local, farm food that is grown locally to the suppliers who become part of the wedding experience, our local business owners take pride in helping brides plan the day, select the perfect dress, the elaborate bouquet and that delicious dessert – all the details that define your wedding day from the start to the perfect ending.

The Pantone Institute of New Jersey showcased their 2019 Spring colours that are sure to lift moods with creative and unexpected combinations. This season’s report features 12 rich colours that are brilliant, without being overpowering. Colours like Fiesta Orange, Jester Red, Lemon Verbena, Princess Blue and Pressed Red, are rich and  moody; stunning tones for decor and fashion.

Today’s bridal gowns are super svelte to traditional minimalist, with off-the-shoulder detailing and plunging necklines, to timeless elegance for the classic bride. Whether lace, silk, satin or taffeta, the style of the day is simplicity. Ribbons and bows continue to adorn necklines and sleeves with a perfect wedding look that’s sassy and fresh.

This season watch for the two-\dress wedding;  one for the ceremony and one for the reception.  After the recent Royal wedding of Megan Markle to her prince, she has added flair style and simplicity for weddings this upcoming season.

Greenery continues to adorn reception site decor with elegant ceiling hangers to smaller bouquets, hoops with mixed foliage or balloons and garlands of table runners.

Watch for romantic backdrops of soft, natural foliage that will provide ideal settings for photos of your guests as well as being the perfect accent for the head table. They’ll also be bringing the outdoors in with big potted plants, branches and lots of lanterns of all shapes and sizes.

In 2018, we saw the return  of balloons and they will continue to make a come back, in soft colours in 2019. Invitations are unique, creative and custom designed, using handmade paper. To add a personal touch to their day, couples are scenting their invitations and decor with light and delicate scents to make a lasting impression.

Reception food will be comprised of local flavours with small plates and small bites, many courses; and may be served with a signature cocktail named after the couple. Food choices will definitely reflect the taste of the couple as they plan their menus.

The hit of the season may well be the “grazing table”,  laden with an abundance of amazing food meant for just that- grazing. Tables will be filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, an array of artisan breads, dips, sweets and sushi.  This trend started in New Zealand and is being widely accepted as a new and unique offering for a guest’s experience.

Mobile bars manned by mixologists will be a favourite in 2019 and dessert stations continue to serve fun options that match the decor of the wedding and provide sweet, taste treats for the guests.

Guests will be tempted by finger foods such as lemon tarts, macarons, cake pops, chocolate treats and icy gourmet popsicles made from natural non-preservative, chemical free ingredients. Or they may sample a mini cone stuffed with a cupcake and topped with sorbet or ice cream. Bubble tea stations are all the rage now and vegan menu options are centre stage.

When planning your day, try not to get lost in the many details. It goes without saying that the most  memorable weddings are enveloped in long- standing traditions, but each couple will add their own style and flair to make the day their own.

Weddings are all about creating a memory-making experience for you and your guests. Focus on the things that matter to you and your spouse-to-be. Serve the food you love. Choose musical selections that make you happy. In the end it’s simple; it’s all about love and memory-making that matters as you host the happiest day of your life!
