There are so many pieces of a puzzle that come together on the day of your wedding. After meticulous planning and so much decision making, it’s time to get married and have a reception! The day you thought would never arrive fast enough, is on your doorstep. And you are excited, nervous and happy- all the normal emotions of a day as special as this one!
While you are getting prettied up with your wedding party at home or a salon, there is an army of professionals working in the background to deliver your day, just as you planned it. It is, however necessary to have someone in charge to count the bouquets and boutonnieres when the flower deliver arrives. Someone to ensure that the chocolate fountain is in its place of honour at the reception and, that the wedding cake has been delivered to the venue. Someone to carry out your wishes and be your eyes and ears for the entire day.
If you have hired a bridal coordinator, whether for the entire planning cycle or just on the day of, they will be the last word on all your previously made plans. It is their job to ensure that everything gets delivered on time, just the way you arranged it.
If you don’t have a designated person, you will have to place someone in charge. You have spent a great deal of money, invited your guests and are counting on everything being just perfect. That means counting the flower boxes as they come in. Making sure the bouquets are all accounted for, the corsages are all there and the boutonnieres are delivered. It means having the church or venue decorated for the ceremony and the reception. That the aisle runner has been laid down and that a table for the gifts has been set-up.
It means that someone that you trust completely in your circle of family or friends is looking out for you and your day. This person is not someone in the wedding party because they all have their special duties. It is someone who is organized and willing to be your eyes and ears for the day.
With careful planning, your day will come off without a hitch. Being prepared and having a plan is the only way that you can be sure that there will be no SOS calls to any of your suppliers at the ninth hour. Make that list and have someone check it carefully as the day unfolds. Count and double check things that matter. Have someone with cash look after the final monies and gratuities that are due. And, then and only then, can you and your spouse-to-be enjoy your wedding day.
